Richard Jenkins, Director of Design and Construction
Mr. Jenkins is responsible for administering, managing, and overseeing all design and construction activities within ICO Development. He provides the daily leadership and direction necessary for a large number of service providers, to insure they are properly coordinated and in full compliance under various agreements. In addition, he participates directly in the process of integrating planning, design and construction ideas into present and future development.
Mr. Jenkins has over 34 years of experience in construction-related industries, with over 20 years as an executive. He is directly responsible for completing over six million square feet of space in building categories from Class A and B office buildings to hospitality, retail, industrial and healthcare. Prior positions for general contractors include senior-level roles with Swinerton Builders in Los Angeles, JA Jones Construction in Washington, DC, RJ Crowley, Inc. in Laurel, MD and CCI Construction in Camp Hill, PA. He has also held significant positions representing ownership, most recently with the Shane Miller Company as the Executive Owner’s Representative for Saint John’s Health Center on their $500 million dollar hospital expansion.
Mr. Jenkins has played a major role in the execution of the following diverse projects: Mellon Bank Center in Philadelphia, a 52-story 1.3 million-square-foot Class A office building; the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Chevy Chase, MD, a 330,000-square-foot nine-building office/research campus; Towsongate Condominiums in Towson, Maryland, a 250,000-square-foot renovation project; 60 Wall Street in New York City, a 62-story 1.4 million-square-foot Class A office building for J. P. Morgan; Fairfax Square in Vienna, Virginia, representing 300,000 square feet of Class A office space with high-end retail and a parking structure; City of College Park Aviation Museum (Wright Brothers Aviation Museum) in College Park, Maryland, The Metropolitan Park Apartments in Bethesda, Maryland, a design/build joint venture project with Montgomery County, Maryland, including 30,000 square feet of retail, a 20,000-square-foot County daycare center and a 427,000-square-foot, 19-story apartment building built over a 550 space subterranean parking facility; the Pennsylvania Turnpike Administration Building in Harrisburg, PA, a 200,000-square-foot office renovation and the addition of a 200,000-square-foot. adjoining office tower; Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC, a 135,000-square-foot historic renovation of the 1820 Tariff Building; and the 11-story, 330,000-square-foot ICU Hospital Tower at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Mr. Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina and has completed graduate studies in FARR Contracts Management and Construction Claims Avoidance at the University of Maryland. He has trade affiliations with the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Association of Healthcare Executives (NAHE).
